All of the Outer Banks took a pretty good hit due to Hurricane Irene, especially Hatteras Island, where the owner of OBFP and 2 of our employees live. Everyone is safe, just a big mess to clean up and a lot of work to do to get the island back to normal. The breaches on Highway 12 will take months to repair at the rate they are going now. We can only hope that politics stay out of the decisions and they get things fixed as soon as possible. Not only have homes, cars and belongings been lost....the rest of the tourist season is pretty much done for this community.
